In an industry often clouded by politics and ulterior motives, independent filmmaking is about breaking free, opening a great lens kit, and telling stories that matter. "The Moneyshot" is a 22-minute dramedy set in 2005 Los Angeles, following a cinematographer’s unexpected pivot to adult filmmaking after being blacklisted from Hollywood. It’s a story of reinvention, friendship, and finding dignity in the most unlikely places—a narrative inspired by real industry experiences and crafted over 12 years.
Storytelling has been vital since ancient times, from hieroglyphs on cave walls to modern cinema screens. Now, we’re inviting you—friends, family, and passionate supporters—to join us in bringing this bold, heartfelt project to the world. Your investment will help us achieve critical milestones to showcase "The Moneyshot" on a commercial theater screen and position it for the 2026 Oscars race.
Why Now?
Inspired by Sean Baker’s historic 2025 Oscar win for "Anora," we finalized "The Moneyshot" in August 2025. The buzz around authentic, indie storytelling is at its peak, and the window to make an impact is now. We’re moving fast to secure a theatrical run and festival presence, but we need your support to cross the finish line.
Investment Milestones
We have personnally invested in 21 Film Festivals. Since our first submission on August 15, 2025, we have won an award for Best Short Director and have been officially selected for the Venice Shorts 2025.
It's important to post our fails as well:
- We did not get selected for our first submission to Urbanworld Film Festival, but are still waiting to hear from the upcoming 18 festivals we submitted to.
- We also did not make the Oscar Qualify deadline of October 9th for the 2026 Academy Award Live Action Shorts, but we will hopefully qualify in time for the following year.
